The KALINGA MODEL RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL, RAIKIA is an English medium school located at Beredakia G.P of Raikia block of Kandhamal district. The school is started functioning from the year 2018 pursuant to Letter No 6116 / SSD 21st March, 2018 of the Commissioner-Cum-Principal Secretary to Govt, ST & SC Dev.Deptt. Govt. of Odisha for providing quality education to the talented tribal ST and SC students. The school is funded by the state government and managed by the District Administration through the District Welfare Officer, Kandhamal. This School is residential & Co-Educational in nature having class range from Std.VI to XII.
The students are selected through Tribal Rural Talent Search (TRTS) Entrance Examination. The meritorious students from the entrance exam get admission in to the Std.VI every year. There are 60 students out of which 30 Girls and 30 Boys in a class. Each class is further divided in to two sections having 30 students each for better student Teacher interaction and imparting quality education. All educational amenities like school uniforms, reading and writing materials are provided to the students free of cost besides providing incidental facilities in the hostels such as Cots, Blankets, Utensils, Mosquito Nets etc.The infrastructure of the school is designed on national standards and keeping in mind the multi-faceted needs of the children.
The Kalinga Model Residential School community is comprised of the Student or Boarders Staff - Teaching and Non-Teaching and Parents. Each of the above stakeholders of school or hostel community has their peculiarity, needs and expectation, therefore staff (both teaching and non-teaching) in general and principal in particular has a responsibility to make residential school a place that is conducive for learning & living. Conducive environment is also important for fostering the mutual understanding and harmony among different stakeholders so that they work together as a team to achieve the goal of promoting interests of all the boarder students and community at large.
